CYSTOSCOPY

It is  indicated as a complementary test in the diagnostic process of bladder and urinary tract problems. In addition, it allows surgical interventions to be carried out inside the bladder or biopsy of the tissues, avoiding the need for hospital admission and reducing complications.

Cistoscopia Vigo - Ginecólogos Vigo

It is a study that allows to see the inside of the bladder and the male and female urethra through a telescope that is usually connected to a monitor. This device is called a cystoscope and it has a micro camera at its end that allows you to see what is in front of it with complete precision. This device can be of the flexible or rigid type, but both are about 5-6 millimeters thick.

It is a test that can be performed in the office and is not bothersome, so only a cream with an anesthetic effect is applied without using any needle. If the patient is very nervous, a sedative gas is applied that produces a relaxing effect. The cystoscope is then introduced through the urethra to the bladder.

If any tissue that seems abnormal is detected, a small sample is taken and this way it can be analyzed in the laboratory.
